Malaysian expertise sought for halal parks

FOOD security-conscious GCC countries have sought Malaysia's expertise to help build halal parks, a leading Malaysian halal expert said. Jamil Bidin of the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) said GCC countries would like more control over the availability, quality and safety of goods entering their markets. "They want to make sure that food products that they import are halal. So this gives an opportunity for us to collaborate with them on the issue of food security especially since Malaysia is well-known for its halal initiatives," he explained. Mr Jamil was a member of an investment mission led by Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Jeddah from May 7 to 17.SNEAKERS
