Matilda International Hospital Announces Fully Integrated OT

Source:Source: Matilda International Ho Release Date:2010-05-13 618
Centralised Control, Paneled Walls and Ergonomic Workspace Define the Future of Theatres
HONG KONG-Matilda International Hospital has opened a state-of-the-art operating theatre, OT5, to match the quantum leaps in medical technology. OT5 comes with a stunning blue-glazed paneled walls and innovative lighting concept, which are the first in Asia. It defines the future of operating theatres with a truly integrated system that enables precise centralised control over medical and peripheral equipment, audiovisual communications and documentation management. Operation efficiency and comfort are also optimised through ergonomic workspace design and other exciting features. "The OT5 raises the bar on OT design by putting emphasis on the total workspace ambience for the surgical team and the patient. It is not just a visual highlight but also reflects our commitment to achieving optimal outcomes for patients. The innovative elements we introduce in the design can help us meet the growth of minimally invasive and musculoskeletal surgeries," said Mary Rafferty, CEO of Matilda International Hospital. Fully Integrated System Enabling Centralised Control Matilda International Hospital is the first private hospital in Hong Kong to install a fully integrated system. Surgeons can control all medical and peripheral equipment from a central control panel, providing more freedom and improved ergonomics. All relevant patient information can be easily accessed through an interface with the hospital information system before, during and after the procedure. Images in high definition can be managed between the operating room and the lecture theatre and linked to other centres of excellence worldwide. Glass Panels and Innovative Lighting Being the First Outside Europe The blue-paneled wall creates a modern, pleasant ambience and offers the benefits of being long-lasting and easy to clean. The theatre lighting comes with a blue light setting that can give a better contrast of colours and enhanced viewing conditions for minimally invasive procedures. The striking glass panels and the blue light setting are new to Asia and have only been introduced in Europe. Light-Emitting Diode (LED) OT Lamps Features Shadow-less Modes for Optimal Lighting Operating theatre lamps use an environment-friendly light source, LED, which has the advantage of generating less heat, consuming 50% less electrical power producing less carbon dioxide. With longer lifespan (20,000-100,000 hours compared to 600-1,000 hours), the LED lamps can effectively minimise downtime on replacing space parts. The LED lamps also feature an innovative "shadow-less modes" and "adjustable colour temperature function" that enable optimal lighting penetration and better view of tissues. Full-Range, High-Definition Camera System Maximises Clarity OT5 is equipped with full-range, high-definition cameras and monitors. A high-definition camera is installed in a LED OT lamp head to complement the arthroscopic camera in the video system, giving razor-sharp images for video conference, teaching purposes, surgery documentation/recording, tele-diagnosis and improved visibility during the procedure. Ceiling Pendants Maximise Room Flexibility The ceiling pendants are the longest in Hong Kong with 2,130 mm action radius. Suspending the medical equipment from the ceiling keeps cables and tubes out of the way and provides more space. The surgical pendant is equipped with a detachable docking trolley for minimally invasive surgery equipment that is a pioneering design in Hong Kong. That allows the surgical team to reconfigure the operating room quickly for different procedures and can share equipment between different rooms. Advanced Medical Equipment for Musculosketal Surgery The room is larger to facilitate the hospital development in musculoskeletalNew Arrivals
