DOHA – Mawashi, Qatar's livestock facility, provided livestock from KSA and Jordan at the same subsidised prices to consumers for the duration of Eid Al-Fitr. The company also extended its working hours with its slaughterhouses opening from 05:00 to 19:00.
Mawashi is the Qatar Company for Meat and Livestock Trading, and was founded with the aim of meeting Qatar's market needs in meat and livestock. The company transports livestock, fodder, and meat products to facilitate trade; manages the automatic and national slaughterhouses; and uses the latest technology in processing its products according to international standards and specifications.
This is the third consecutive year for subsidised prices initiative through the collaboration amongst the Ministry of Business the& Trade, Qatar Development Bank and Mawashi and has been continuously well-received by the public owing to the role it plays in securing high-quality meat and livestock during Ramadan's peak season at affordable prices.
Mawashi has additionally brought to market meat and livestock from Australia. The company has also imported different types of fresh livestock and chilled meat from Sudan, India, Pakistan, Somalia, Georgia and Ethiopia. Furthermore, Mawashi received livestock for the first time in Qatar from Armenia in line with the company's long-term vision to become a key player in the country's food security endeavors and its image as an exemplar of quality and competitiveness within its industry.Air Force High
