Maximizing Oman's export market for metals, minerals industry

Edwin Lammers, Executive Commercial Director comments on the contribution of the SOHAR Port and Free zone, "SOHAR Port and Free zone has developed into the nerve centre of an industrial and economic powerhouse. Without doubt the past couple of years have been successful, growth of 52 per cent in 2012 and further growth in 2013. The highpoint was the achievement of an aggregate cargo throughput of nearly 50-million tons, in just 11 years from start-up. Our ongoing goal is to leverage SOHAR's geographical location, world-class deepwater harbour facilities and excellent infrastructure facilities to provide investors with a robust manufacturing and export platform to achieve global competitive advantages, cost efficiencies and access to new markets".

Edwin will provide a more in-depth analysis of the impact of the export market at IQPC and GEC's 2nd Annual Mining and Quarrying Oman 2014 between 18 - 19 May 2014 at the Crown Plaza Muscat, "I'm delighted to be attending this event to outline how our approach is imperative to the government's goal of stimulating investment opportunities for local Omani businesses, creating employment of nationals, supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises and contributing to economic diversification in general". He will be joined by Marine Eng. Rien van de Ven, CEO and Engineer Hashim Taher Al Ibrahim, Deputy Director of Commercial Department - both from the Port of Duqm; and Mohammed Amer Al Mashani, Commercial Manager for General Cargo from the Port Of Salalah. Each port will provide their perspective of the industry before participating in an interactive panel session.

His Excellency Ali bin Khalfan bin Salman Al Qutaiti, Chief of Health and Environment Council and Chief of Crushers and Quarrying Council at the Shura Council, Sultanate of Oman will attend as the Chief Guest. Organised by IQPC and Global Exhibitions & Conferences LLC (GEC), the second annual Mining and Quarrying Oman conference will gather over 60 metals and minerals experts and professionals including: Oman Oil Company, Mawarid Mining Company, Oman Chromite Company, Gulf Mining Materials, Global Mining Company, Takamul Investment Company and Oman Investment Fund.
