TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said Monday it has agreed to provide technological support to Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group Co. of China through a project to jointly develop a bulk carrier.
Under the agreement signed by the two companies in Tokyo the same day, Mitsubishi Heavy will supply the conceptual design, including hull shape, for an 82,000 deadweight ton class ship to be developed by Shanghai-based Sinopacific in 2013.
Sinopacific is the second foreign company to be granted Mitsubishi Heavy's technological support in the area of shipbuilding after L&T Shipbuilding Ltd. of India.
