Meeting the needs of emerging markets

In November of 2013, Forstar moved to its new factory in Kaiping, Guangdong Province, China. The new factory covers more than 80,000 sq.m. With improved management and expanded work teams, the production capacity has been increased greatly as the new factory is four times bigger than the old factory, with another 20,000 sq.m. of land for for further factory expansion. Increased factory floor and production capacity is expected to yield more than 3,500 injection moulding machines annually, ranging from 60 tonnes to 2800 tonnes.

The company’s move to a bigger facility is only part of a forward-looking strategy, according to Michael Lau, Sales Director of Overseas Sales Department. “Forstar will start producing large machines, such as 2200 tonnes and 2800 tonnes this year and will develop all-electric injection moulding machines and two-platen injection moulding machines in 2015. These new machines are mainly targeted at the Middle East and African markets, as these markets keep rising in recent years and the buyers need larger machines and more energy-saving machines.”

With big tonnage and good performance, these machines are widely used for the industry of household appliance, construction, automobile, communication and other basic industries. According to Mr. Lau, Forstar has been consistenly researching and monitoring the needs of emerging markets and putting the information gathered into production to enable them to meet requirements from new customers.

Our target markets are Russia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, as these markets have more opportunities and stable development, with less impact from the recession of the developed market, Mr. Lau stressed. In preparation for future demands, Forstar has been developing horizontal machining center (CNC) and milling machine, which two prototype had been done and under testing. And they are expected to be launched in local upon testing are done.
