Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd. will be organising the "2nd METAL Japan - Highly-functional Metal Expo", Japan's only exhibition specialising in highly-functional metals and its equipment at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan from April 8-10, 2015. About 200 companies manufacturing metal materials (aluminium, copper, titanium, magnesium, a noble metal, steel, etc.) and processing machines, analysis/inspection equipment, and recycling technologies are expected to exhibit. This year's exhibit space has expanded substantially due to the growing numbers of exhibitors and visitors from the steel industry, compared to the last show where non-ferrous metals were the major exhibits. More than 65,000 industry professionals are also expected to visit METAL Japan and its concurrent shows.

METAL Japan will be held at Tokyo Big Sight, using the whole of East Halls with other shows. The concurrent shows include "6th FilmTech Japan - Highly-functional Film Expo," and "4th PLASTIC Japan - Highly-functional Plastic Expo," Photonix 2015 - 15th Int'l Laser & Photonics Expo" and "25th FINETECH JAPAN - Flat Panel Display Technology Expo." As a whole, professionals from various kinds of industries such as automotive, smartphone/tablet, renewable energy, electronics, aerospace, shipbuilding, medical, plastic, film, and FPD will be gathering under one roof to discover the cutting-edge technologies and products from around the world.

Metal Japan: Specialising in highly-functional Metals

The very first edition attracted 57,177 visitors from Japan, Korea, China, United States, Thailand, Germany, Singapore, India, France, Malaysia, and other countries, and many exhibitors took advantage of the show as a gateway to enter new markets.

Katsutoshi Tsuchiya, Show Director of METAL Japan, said, "Although the 1st METAL Japan was a remarkable success in the sense that the show attracted visitors from across the globe and a lot of business meetings were taking place onsite, the majority of the exhibitors were non-ferrous metal-related companies. After the show, we received a number of requests from visitors that they would also like to see more steel-related technologies and products at next edition. To meet the needs among visitors, we are gathering more exhibitors and Keynote Session speakers from the steel industry this year. We hope this will affect more visitors, especially researchers, developers and designers who seek all kinds of metal-related information, technologies, products and the latest market trends."

This year, the show will welcome three Keynote speakers: Mr. Atsuo Kuroda, Director-General of Manufacturing Industries Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Akihiro Miyasaka, Representative Director and Executive Vice President of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp., and Mr. Keiichi Kobayashi, Corporate Vice President, Divisional Manager of Copper & High Performance Material Products Div., Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.

In order to compose a balanced conference program, each speaker will discuss different topics. Mr. Kuroda will address Japan's strategic policy for "Monozukuri" or manufacturing business, while Mr. Miyasaka from one of the major Japanese manufacturers will speak on behalf of the steel industry. Mr. Kobayashi will talk about non-ferrous metals, mainly copper.
