Chilled food manufacturer Daesang Corporation is Micvac's first customer in South Korea

DAESANG Corporation’s latest chilled ready meals are produced using microwave technology from Scandinavian food tech company, Micvac.

The Micvac production line installed in one of Daesang’s factories enables in-pack microwave cooking and pasteurization to improve taste and shelf life. It is used for six chilled products in sizes 240g, 390g and 395g.

The ready meals sold under the brand, Whistling Cook, feature Chinese, Korean and European recipes. Products are distributed across the country via retail and internet channels.

“We are very happy about this project and it’s exciting to see how well the products are accepted by the consumers,” said Myounghyun Seo, MV-Project team leader at Daesang.

“We are delighted that the Micvac concept now also enters South Korea,” said Hirokazu Kushioka, Manager of the Micvac team within Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd (DNP).  “The producers like the shelf life which enables a smoother production and efficient logistics.”

Daesang founded in 1956 is Micvac’s first customer in South Korea. Since the introduction of the food brand Chungjungone in 1996, the company has been continuously introducing healthy food products.

“We are very proud to become a strategic supplier to Daesang Corporation. It’s an industry leader with focus on high quality and innovation,” said Håkan Pettersson, Managing Director at Micvac. “And I am really happy to see how well Micvac develops in the region together with our partner DNP.” The partnership between Micvac and DNP goes back to 2010.
