Midal Cables Ltd is a success story born in 1977, conceived between Intersteel-Bahrain and Olex Cables-Australia. IMNEA: Tell us more about your company and products.
Hameed: Midal Cables manufactures and exports aluminium and aluminium alloy rods, overhead conductors, wires and conform extrusion products. We are the first company to do so in the whole of the Gulf region to supply rods, wires and conductors for the road post and position us to be the market leader in the development and production of aluminium alloy. Our total commitments are as follows:

> To provide a safe and healthy working conditions in compliance with the applicable Safety and Health Legislation, and
> To conduct the present and future operations in accordance with the local environmental legal requirements.

IMNEA: What are the industries you serve?
We supply the government (ministries) and private sectors (big contractors).

IMNEA : Where do you manufacture your products?
We are located in Askar Industrial Area, beside ALBA – Aluminum Bahrain, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

IMNEA: Please describe your company operations and how do you ensure that you meet the highest standards?
Hameed: Our original raw liquid aluminium material come from ALBA –Aluminum Bahrain - and is processed in three stages. First is the casting, second is the wire drawing and last the streading. Also, we use different kinds of process depending on the finish product produced.

IMNEA: Do you have any plans to expand your operations?
We established an aluminium rods, wires and conductors manufacturing plants in Australia and Turkey. We are also expanding our production capacity for 9.5mm and 12mm rods t o 200,000 metric tonnes.

IMNEA: What is your projection of the Middle East market given the general slowdown in the global economy? How does your company cope with this?
Hameed: By performing a smooth 24/7 operation. Since we do not have any new product, we just focus on the product line we are producing and maintain good inventory.

IMNEA: What are the factors that affect your production and markets?
Hameed: None so far. We remain conservative. Majority of our supplies come from KSA, Europe and Australia.

IMNEA: What is your mission?
Hameed: Our mission is to establish and invest in manufacturing facilities and related services to adopt state of the art technology in the manufacturing processes of aluminium and aluminium alloy rod, wire, shaped solid and stranded and overhead conductor to achieve international standards of quality and reliability.
