Mobile app UpToDate Anywhere launched in Asia

THE UpToDate Anywhere app, which allows mobile access to the evidence-based clinical decision support (CDS) resource, is now available in Asia. Thailand’s Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Center will pioneer the program’s deployment in the region.

Wolters Kluwer Health, leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, has recently announced the Asian launch of the app, which was rated as one of “The Best Apps in Publishing” by the EContent Magazine.

Available in iOS, Android, and Windows 8 mobile platforms and over the Internet through any Web browser, the UpToDate Anywhere will allow doctors and healthcare enterprises to obtain answers to point-of-care questions on-site, at satellite offices, at home, or even on-the-go. This supports trends pointing to healthcare professionals increasingly embracing mobile health initiatives and turning to devices such as the iPad, iPhone, and other tablets and smartphones as clinical tools. Nearly 300,000 clinicians can access the mobile app in more than 160 countries worldwide.

The mobile app can be embedded in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Cerner, InterSystems, and ezCaretech to improve clinical workflow integration. This will allow searching with fewer clicks and without additional windows or log-ins. Clinicians can post clinical questions in nine languages—Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean (beta), and Japanese in addition to English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish—using a customizable suite of multilanguage search and navigation tools. The intuitive auto-complete feature in the app’s patent-pending translation feature will predict words or phrases in a clinician’s preferred language to deliver faster search results.
