Mollydooker grabs top honors at Winestate

MOLLYDOOKER Wines recently won top honors at the Winestate magazine’s 2014 Australasian Winestate Awards, held last November 14 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The Mollydooker 2012 Carnival of Love Shiraz was awarded 2014 Wine of the Year for Australia and New Zealand and 2014 Shiraz Wine of the Year for Australia and New Zealand.

Australia’s prestigious and oldest wine publication Winestate selected the winners from more than 2,400 Australian and New Zealand wine producers and over 11,000 wine entries. Less than 5 percent of the wines entered received awards.

Judging for the awards involved wine industry peers, who selected the award-winning wines during blind tasting formats. The Winery of Year award was based on consistent performance throughout the blind tastings. 

According to publisher Peter Simic, the Carnival of Love Shiraz is seriously the most outstanding wine of Australia and New Zealand that was reviewed over 2014.

South Australian wine producer Mollydooker Wines, which is owned and operated by Sarah and Sparky Marquis, have won five times with "99" point scores from Robert Parker (Wine Advocate). It has won the McLaren Vale Bushing Trophy three times. It has also garnered top honors at the Top 10 Wines of the Year three times and many times at the Top 100 Wines from Wine Spectator.
