MONOSOL LLC, A Kuraray Company, will build a high-tech production plant in Portage’s Ameriplex at the Port in Indiana. This site will fulfil demand for water-soluble film products, beginning 2016 when the first of three construction phases will be completed. The project is expected to be concluded by 2020. By 2015, the company will start hiring for about 150 job openings.
At the ground-breaking ceremonies, P. Scott Bening, CEO of MonoSol said Portage, Indiana was chosen over other locations in Europe and North America. “We are blessed with a great team of people who started in Portage in 1953, expanded to LaPorte, Indiana and to Europe and now find cause to build even more back in Portage.”
“MonoSol’s humble beginnings started in Portage and we have insured that Portage will be instrumental in their incredible future. This is truly one of Portage’s finest achievements on many levels,” added Mayor James Snyder.
