More business opportunities at ProPak Vietnam 2014

ProPak Vietnam 2014 and Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2014 will run concurrently from 4-6 March at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. Organised by the Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd, these two events combined make for one of the largest trade shows for the food processing and packaging industries in Viet Nam. 

Over 300 trade exhibitors from 23 countries will occupy the 7,000sqm exhibition hall. There will be national pavilions for leading technology exporting countries. Visitors to the show will be able to network with representatives and member companies of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) – Singapore, Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO) – Austria, China, Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) – Thailand, Food Processing Machinery at the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) – Germany, Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers' Association (UCIMA) – Italy, Italian Trade Commission (ICE) – Italy, Korea Packaging Machinery Association (KPMA) – Korea, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE)– Malaysia, Singapore Plastic Industry Association (SPIA) – Singapore and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) - Taiwan.

A number of conferences on food engineering development, packaging design and new product development have been organised by VaFost, MES Lab and Vinalab.

Growing local industries

In the first 10 months of 2013, Viet Nam’s registered foreign direct capital (FDI) rose 95.8% to $13.1 billion; disbursed FDI increased 6.4% to US$9.6 billion.¹ The local retail and food processing industry has been experiencing a growth rate of about 10% annually in the past few years, thanks to both local and foreign investors. Currently there are 2800 food related companies in Ho Chi Minh city alone.²

Meanwhile in the plastics industry, exports amounted to $1.808 billion in 2013. This is a 13.3% annual improvement. The figure may likely grow an additional 13.5–16.5% in 2014. The increase may be partly attributed to the introKD VIII Elite High
