More support for Suntory's recovery projects

BEVERAGE maker Suntory Holdings Limited recently received a donation of ￡250,000 from The Edrington Group Limited for the Suntory Tohoku Children's Support Project directed toward recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake. Suntory and Edrington are joint brand owners of "The Macallan", a single malt whisky.

In April, Suntory decided to raise approximately four billion yen by making a one-yen donation from each canned soft drink and beer product sold. The proceeds will be used for activities based on the main pillars of fishing industry support, children's support projects, and support through sports and cultural activities, the company said. The Suntory Tohoku Children's Support Project is being jointly conducted by Suntory Holdings and Save the Children Japan to provide a scholarship program and opportunities and locations for children to study and play in Fukushima prefecture.
