The demand for uncomplicated components and standardised products, although essential to the traditional manufacturing sector, has long been classified as highly volatile due to shifting trade and political policies, as well as unforeseen economic situations. The medical technology segment grew by 14.5 per cent in July 2012 as compared to previous year; higher output from rig building and ship building activities lifted the marine & offshore engineering segment to a gain of 5.9 per cent; and the aerospace segment rose seven per cent from a year ago with higher demand for engine manufacturing and repair jobs.
