Mr. Gunther Blum, Founder of Blum-Novotest, is in Singapore to attend the latest MTA 2013. He says that Blum is a recognized developer of state-of-the-art measuring components. Blum has more than 40 years of experience as a partner in the worldwide machine tool, automotive and aircraft industries. Recently, Blum has expanded in Thailand by opening a subsidiary.
Mr. Blum says that his company provides a wide range of solutions and the technology is developed 100% in-house. Founded in 1968, Blum is today one of the leading manufacturers of the most advanced measuring and testing technology. In three different business divisions, the company engineers innovative products that are renowned worldwide for their high precision, quality and efficiency.
Beside the subsidiary in Thailand, Mr. Blum also mentions that in 2012, his company established a subsidiary in Brazil. The new subsidiary will serve as a sales and service hub, supporting the local system integrators and coordinating the setup of other future sales and service offices.
Regarding the success of his company, Mr. Blum says that he believes in hard work and not giving up. Ideas are not only for drawing boards and Mr. Blum believes in getting feedback from customers and the industry. He considers that in order to further R&D, a strong financial fundamental is important. This will enable the company to continue developing and improving by leveraging on the latest technology. Financial independence also allows the company to be nimble. Mr. Blum also states that the company culture is important in having the right people to fit in so that they can thrive and fully realize their potential.
When it comes to technological trend, Mr. Blum postulates that a combination of non-touch and touch probing will gain traction. This will not replace the traditional system but will instead complement it.
In TC64-DIGILOG, Blum is introducing the world’s first touch probe with a face-geared shark360 measuring mechanism which on the one hand operates wireless, on the other, combines all the advantages of a digital-analogue probe. During the scanning process, the integrated face gear produces a defined deflection direction at constant deflection forces. Any torsional force that may occur is absorbed by the face gear and thus has no effect on the measuring result. The switch and analogue signal is generated without wear by shadowing a miniature light barrier, thus guaranteeing the long service life of the TC64-DIGILOG.
