MTA Singapore: Makino interview

Mr. George Lim, Vice President of Marketing at Makino, gives an introduction to the U6 wire electrical discharge machine.  He says that this is the first time that the machine is launched in MTA Singapore.  Emphasizing on the intuitiveness of the U6, Mr. Lim says that it has a state-of-the-art in-house developed controller that is based on touch screen technology.  It has features like pinch, spread and swipe.

The software is highly interactive and intelligent in that it reduces the operator’s learning curve, thus maximizing the usage to achieve higher productivity.  Mr. Lim says that the interface is known as Hyper i. Hyper refers to high speed and i refers to intuitive.  It has easy program editing interface similar to Microsoft Window and graphical user interface provides easy operation.

With regards to maintenance, Mr. Lim states that the software can update with real-time status for reliable replacement of consumable parts.  It also offers hassle free in-built software info and alarm message.

Mr. Lim says that the software can capture knowledge and this can partly alleviate the problem of shortage of skilled manpower.  Managers can also check the data logged into the hard disk to check the operator’s productivity.  Thus it can be used as a tool for remuneration and rewards.

When customers view the U6 and learn about its capabilities, it opens up a new world of possibilities for them.  The U6 gives customers a new view of how to increase productivity and thus profitability.  Always in tune to the industry’s demands and customers’ needs, Mr. Lim gathers feedback and incorporates customized features to enhance the value-added services offer by Makino.
