Multifunction FlexiCase

WHEN considering speed, footprint, and packaging-size range, Cermex says it has one of the most efficient solutions for the personal- and home-care markets.  It recently came out with the FlexiCase, a multi-function, top-loading case packer (forming - loading - sealing). With this equipment, Cermex  has enhanced  its product portfolio for the packing of plastic bottles of any size, shape and strength into RSCs. The new design offers a maximum speed of 40 cases per minute, a 20m2 footprint, and a wide scope of handled products/cases.

The case-packing machine has a completely mechanical and control-system. Various product-handling systems may be fulfilled, depending on the speed and the product, with a choice between the use of sequential (stop and go) and continuous technology. It has a compact and positive-vertical case-forming system. It seals top flaps (using glue or adhesive tape), with guaranteed case-squaring.

The FlexiCase has 17 servo-motors which include six for the forming operation and three for the sealing operation. Its case magazine is at an ergonomic level of 900mm to make it easy for the operator toreload. It has multi-case loading (from 1 to 3 mostly) to reduce loading speed, and thus also limit hazards during the critical gripping, transfer and loading into the packaging of the product. Its gripping of the product is precise and smooth, with an optional integration of the Cermex ANgantry packer and Manipex Pick & Place arm or any third-party poly-articulated robot. It can be structured with completely independent subassemblies to facilitate machine operation and maintenance, and has the Ergonomic Human-Machine Interface that comes with an input menu per module. In terms of performance, the automation and control architecture of the FlexiCase was developed in compliance with the OMAC (Organization for Machine Automation and Control) standard. It has a payload of up to 160 kg, with change parts, and comes with options such as a remote maintenance kit, an anticorrosion pack, automation of format changeovers, and green packs to reduce air and power consumption.

Apart from its portfolio expansion, the company continues to expand services in Asia, in pursuit of its strategy to create a strong presence in today’s emerging markets. The new facility launched in Pune, India comes barely five years after the opening of Cermex’s Beijing plant. With this project, the company confirms an ambition to develop industrial sites in the most economically dynamic areas, as well as to bring engineering and customer service functions near where its customers need  them.  For  starters,  Cermex  is assembling three models of machines in Pune, one from each major family in its product line. These are the Vertical Pick and Place Case Packer E428 (designed in India), the P9 - 4-axis Gripping/Transfer Palletizer,  and the Automatic  Shrink-wrapper with sealing bar.
