Multivac is now the exclusive sales distributor of Mylar? Cook films to Africa, the Middle East, Oceanic, Europe, and the Americas. This agreement with DuPont Teijin Films combines the strengths and capabilities of the companies in thermoforming solutions to brand owners, protein providers, food distributors, retailers and end-use customers.
The thermoformable films were specially developed for the preparation of food in the high temperature range up to 218 degrees Celsius. The food product is cooked in the oven or in the microwave in its sealed pack, a technique that helps retain the aromas, vitamins, minerals and inherent moisture of the product during the cooking process. When a certain pressure is reached, the seal seam of the pack opens by itself. The food is then browned in the open pack. The constant heat transfer during the two cooking phases ensures that consistent cooking results are achieved. Its application reduces the cooking time by up to 30%. Moreover, the thermoformable films contribute to a reduction of energy consumption in private homes, restaurants and large-scale kitchens. In addition, Mylar Cook films are suitable packaging solution for sous vide preparations, a method of cooking food that is sealed in airtight bags and heated in a water bath. They are also suitable lidding films for frozen and chilled ready meals, fresh produce, and dairy.
"The Mylar? Cook concept is up to now unique in the market. We are delighted about the co-operation agreement with DuPont Teijin Films, with whom we have already successfully implemented several projects, amongst these for example the project with the Tassal Group, an Australian operator of salmon farms", emphasises Bernard Leveau.
Multivac will be promoting the thermoformable films at the Fachpack in Nuremberg from September 25-27, 2012.
