MULTIVAC label dispensers certified to IP69 K

Source:Ringier Food Release Date:2015-03-19 285
Food & Beverage
The label dispensers meet protection class IP69 K that certifies resistance against water and dust

THE label dispensers of the new-generation LD MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection are available for use where strict hygiene is required or in low-risk areas. The models in the hygiene version belong to protection class IP69 K, as verified by an independent testing and certification body.

For label dispensers LD 100, protection class IP54 is sufficient in low-risk areas (5: protection against ingress of dust in harmful quantities; 4: protection against splashing water). Dispensers in the hygiene version comply with highest degree of protection for dust and water resistance.

Protection against humidity and overheating

The classification of protection class IP69 K confirms that the label dispensers are dustproof (code 6), have an interior that is impenetrable by water even with high-pressure cleaning (code 9), and can withstand water temperatures of up to 80°C (additional code K). These properties ensure that label dispensers can tolerate high-pressure cleaning with hot water. This cleaning method is a standard in most packaging and labelling systems in the food industry.

The sensitive drive system of the label dispensers are protected by a sealed housing with an efficient sealing system. The electric motor and the electronics are protected from overheating by an innovative system for heat dissipation.

Highly flexible

With a modular design, the label dispensers LD 100 and LD 200 can meet most industry requirements. The models introduced last year were first integrated into the conveyor belt labeller and in future will form the basis for all marking systems from MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection.

The new label dispensers operate with servo technology and direct drive without additional transmission elements for the label advance. These technical innovations accelerate labelling as well as allow for high precision, since there are no elastic components with excessive play between the drive and advance roller.

Conditions for water resistance test IPX9 K

To demonstrate water resistance according to DIN EN 60529, a label dispenser was exposed to an 80°C (+/- 5°) water jet. The water was shot from a distance 100 – 150 mm at a pressure of 10,000 kPa (100 bar) onto the test device. This was located on a disk that revolved around its axis five times per minute. To check if the label dispenser was completely waterproof, the jet struck the sample with a flow rate of approximately 15 l/min for 30 seconds in each case from different spray angles (0°, 30°, 60°, 90°).
