Today, nearly a third of China’s machine tool imports come from Germany, making the People’s Republic by far the most important export market for German machine tool manufacturers. To capitalize on China’s ongoing economic boom, foreign suppliers need to be familiar with the country’s unique market environment and develop a quality network of local contacts. They also need to have a local presence. Exhibiting at the Metalworking and CNC Machine Tool Show (MWCS) in Shanghai is a highly effective first step on the road to developing one of the world’s biggest and most promising markets.
“China already ranks among the top markets and manufacturing locations for many globally operating companies. And in the long-term, it is certain to consolidate its position as one the world’s strongest industrialized nations. Exhibiting at a local trade fair is the best way for foreign manufacturers of machine tools and metalworking solutions to gain a foothold and expand their business in this exciting growth market,” explained Dr. Andreas Gruchow, the Managing Board member in charge of Deutsche Messe’s foreign trade fair business.
MWCS is one of the world’s most important trade fairs for machine tools and metalworking technology. The show is staged by Deutsche Messe’s Chinese subsidiary, Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, and Shanghai East Best International (Group). This year, it will open its gates from 5 to 9 November at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The showcase features a comprehensive range of technology solutions for Southeast China’s metalworking industry. The fair’s host city, Shanghai, is ideally located to tap into one of the world’s biggest markets for machine tools and related technologies.
The fast-paced rate of innovation in industry is leading to an ever-closer integration of classic machine tools with industrial automation solutions. This important trend is a keynote theme at the MWCS show and the reason behind the organizers’ decision to leverage the full synergy potential of these two converging areas of technology by staging MWCS right alongside the Industrial Automation Show (IAS) at the same venue. The co-staging of two interrelated industrial technology shows is a first for the People’s Republic of China and sets MWCS apart from rival fairs in the region.
At the prior event in November 2012, 443 companies showcased the latest technologies and trends on a total display area of around 46,000 square meters (495,000 sq. ft). The attendance of more than 119,000 trade visitors from the automobile, aerospace, IT, electrical, electronics, rail and ship building industries underscored MWCS’s standing as the premier event for the highly industrialized markets of Southeast China.
The fair’s offering of state-of-the-art technology is rounded out by a supporting program of lectures and forums, buyer delegations, guided tours of key industrial zones and a prize-giving ceremony for the prestigious Ringier Technology Innovation Award.
Especially attractive terms are available to companies who exhibit within an international pavilion. For more information, contact Birgit Mertens, Hannover Messe International GmbH, Tel: +49 511-89-34288, e-mail birgit.mertens@hmi.messe.de, or visit www.metalworkingchina.com
