CAIRO -- Nestlé, the global food and beverage company, reiterated its commitment to Egypt on the occasion of its 100th anniversary for its presence in the country.
At press conference at the company's headquarters on May 23rd, Nestlé Egypt CEO and chairman Suresh Narayanan said Nestlé is committed to injecting new investments valued at one billion Egyptian pounds in the market through to 2014. Half of these investments has been already injected last year, he said.
Mr Narayan said Nestlé's expansion strategy in Egypt includes the expansion of the existing factories, the injection of investments in the infrastructure, and raising the efficiency of the distribution of the company's products in all governorates.
Egypt remains one of the most important markets in which Nestlé operates owing to its huge population and trade agreements between Egypt and several countries, which contribute in growing the exports of the company.
Nestlé has 24 factories in the Africa and provides around 29,000 direct jobs and more than 50,000 indirect jobs in the continent. Its products are sold in all the 53 African countries. The global food and beverage company began its activities in Africa at the end of the 19th century and established its industrial presence in 1927 by opening its first factory in South Africa.
