New attractions at ProSweets Cologne 2014

IN FEBRUARY 2015, ProSweets Cologne, the international supplier trade fair for the confectionery industry, will feature top-of-the-line solutions and developments for ingredients, production, packing and logistics for sweets and snacks. Taking place alongside the ISM (International Sweets and Biscuits Fair) at the Cologne Exhibition Centre from 1–4 February 2015, the event expects more than 300 suppliers from 30 countries. 

Features at the show

• New Product Showcase ProSweets Cologne This is a special platform for exhibitors to highlight their latest products, packing and ingredients. 
• Speakers’ Corner In daily sessions, the Speakers’ Corner will tackle important topics affecting production, processing and packing from both the sweets and snacks sectors. 
• FutureLab Under the direction of Professor Jenz Großhans, FutureLab, which is the open think tank of students from the Köln International School of Design will be working on packaging concepts for sweets and snacks. Exhibitors from both ProSweets Cologne and the ISM will be able to submit proposals for topics before the fairs start. The results and interim results will be presented to the public three times a day.

Also for the first time, there will be a Science Center in which food technology institutes will be able to introduce themselves and present current research topics. Here, in addition to the chance to make contacts for research, development and services, exhibitors and visitors will also be able to address issues regarding production and packing.

Power Fruits A special show entitled Power Fruits provides a venue for show attendees to discuss dried fruits as ingredients for sweets and present them in their various facets. 

Processing and packaging equipment

At ProSweets Cologne, the range of production machinery and equipment is extensive. Visitors will be able to view those from Aasted ApS, Bühler AG, Carle & Montanari S.p.A., Royal Duyvis Wiener B.V., Haas Food Equipment GmbH, Hänsel Processing GmbH, Hosokawa Bepex GmbH, Knobel Maschinenbau AG, NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik GmbH, Sollich KG, and many others. 

In the packaging sector, exhibitors include ACMA S.p.a., Robert Bosch GmbH, Cavanna S.p.A., Fuji Packaging GmbH, Gerhard Schubert GmbH, Kallfass Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH, Loesch Verpackungstechnik GmbH and Theegarten-Pactec GmbH & Co. KG.

Also at the show, visitors will be able to meet with makers of packaging and packaging materials, including ESBE Plastic GmbH, Novacart S.p.A., PAWI Verpackungen AG, Klann Packaging and Metsä Board.

New exhibitors to the show are Bizerba GmbH, Chocal Aluminiumverpackungen GmbH and Ilapak Verpackungungsmaschinen GmbH will attend the fair. Other leading companies include Crown Packaging Europe GmbH, Dometic Waeco, Selmi SRL, Stora Enso Oyj and Tanis Confectionery.

Taking part in ProSweets Cologne for the first time is Döhler, a global provider of technology-based natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions for the food and beverage industry.

Also a first-timer to this fair is Cargill Inc., provider of food, agriculture, financial and industrial products and services.

The secondary areas such as food safety/quality management and operational and auxiliary equipment will be represented by Hans Brunner GmbH, Heuft Systemtechnik GmbH and Mafo Cleaning Equipment BV.

In conjunction with the ISM, the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair Cologne, ProSweets Cologne covers the entire value chain in confectionery production. ProSweets Cologne is sponsored by the Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI), Sweets Global Network e.V. (SG), the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) and the Central College of the German Confectionery Industry (ZDS). 

According to organisers, last year’s show saw attendance from 325 companies, with 124 coming from Germany and 200 from other countries. The event attracted 17,000 of which 11,000 were foreign visitors.
