MUSCAT – With the Eid Al Adha holidays falling towards the end of October, OITE Conferences has announced new dates for the Oman International Food Safety Conference 2012. The 3rd edition of the conference will be held from 6-8 November at the Grand Hyatt.

With the aim to raise Oman's food safety system to an international level, Oman International Food Safety Conference 2012 will see more than 250 key food industry players share their insights with regional & international experts. Speakers will report on the updates and developments in Oman's food safety programmes as well case studies from around the globe through presentations and panel discussions.

In keeping with the theme "Putting Practice into Action - Raising the Standards of Food Safety in Oman" the Conference will seek to highlight the necessity for implementation of an effective food safety system in the country, taking cues on tackling challenges from Oman's counterparts and overcoming critical food safety issues as a global phenomenon. This year the Conference will cover topics on the international policy implementations, strategic implementation and management of food safety programs and initiatives and come up with solutions to food safety challenges as well as to mitigate the risk on food borne illnesses and outbreaks.
"An effective food safety system will only come about through collective efforts by concerned government authorities in collaboration with the food industry. In doing this, we must not look at selective action in selective areas, but focus on increasing all efforts in all areas related to food safety simultaneously if we want to raise the country's food safety system to an international standard. Information, discussion and solutions will be a part of this years Conference, with a stronger focus towards effective implementation of a food safety system in Oman," said Sherwin Sevillena, senior manger,
OITE Conferences

Complimenting the Conference a dedicated display area will also be available during the 2-day event to showcase cutting-edge technologies, products, services and basic food safety demonstration which is suitable for small food establishments.
A special workshop on "National Food Agencies – A Means on Enhancing Food Safety" will be held alongside the Conference, which will be facilitated by Prof Raymond O' Rourke, barrister and a specialist food regulaNike
