PENTAX Medical, a division of HOYA Group, is launching Splash M-Knife, a new multi-functional Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) device, at the 89th Annual Meeting of The Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) Congress to be held in Nagoya, Japan from May 29-31, 2015.

ESD is a procedure invented in Japan over 10 years ago and growing worldwide for its clinical and financial benefits contributing in early recovery, reduced complexities and costs from gastric cancero Flexible endoscopes have been developed to be used in low invasive treatment procedures in combination with therapeutic devices.
Rami Liebenthal, vice president for Global Product Management, said Pentax Medical hopes to spread the application of ESD globally with the demonstration of Splash M-Knife and to accelerate the early treatment of gastric cancer.
“We are confident that the innovative device for precise, efficient and safer ESD sets a new standard for performing a complete ESD therapy. We are committed to propagate the procedure and in its further development,” he said.
Splash M-Knife is multi-functional because it achieves clear marking, better hemostasis and smoother and easier operation during a procedure without replacing the knife. A unique mechanism consisting of a disk helps to hook up the tissue for improved safety and ease of cutting, while metal plate closes the knife for clear marking and better hemostasis. To round out the multi-functionality, a water-jet function enables additional injection without changing the device.
