New president for DSM Nutritional Products

Royal DSM  N.V., a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, announced the appointment of Chris Goppelsroeder as president and CEO of DSM Nutritional Products. He will be joining DSM on January 1, 2013.

Mr Goppelsroeder, a Swiss narional, is currently the global head of the Seed Care business of Syngenta. Prior to this position, he was a member of the managing board of DSM from 2005 to 2006. During that period, he was responsible for a number of businesses in the performance materials and industrial chemicals clusters and also had corporate responsibility for marketing and for the regions Europe and Japan. He came to DSM through the acquisition of the Roche vitamins and fine chemicals business where he spent a considerable part of his career, based in Switzerland, Belgium and the USA, building significant international experience in the life sciences industry. In his new role, he will be reporting to Stephan Tanda, member of the managing board of DSM and responsible for the Nutrition cluster.

Mr Goppelsroeder is taking the place of president and CEO Leendert Staal who will be retiring at the end of February, 2013 after 10 years of service. Mr Leendert has made tremendous contributions to the company, first in DSM Pharmaceutical Products, later at DSM Nutritional Products, which he built into a strong, global and highly successful organisation and industry leader.
