New Silsoft range at in-cosmetics Asia 2014

MPM (Momentive Performance Materials) will introduce its silicone products for personal care at in-cosmetics Asia – Silsoft* Spread MAX spreading agent and Silsoft Silk* conditioning agent These new personal care ingredients can significantly improve the performance of skin and hair care products.

Silsoft Spread MAX This non-ionic organo-modified carbosilane copolymer can reduce the surface tension of aqueous formulas for improved spreading of actives and inorganic pigments in formulations. Desirable benefits can be achieved with this versatile ingredient in hair coloring, sunscreens, color cosmetics, anti-aging skin care, anti-acne treatments, shaving creams, hair relaxers and more, including:

• Superspreading – Typically stable in the aqueous phase from pH 2-12 and effective even at low concentrations (0.1-1 percent), this spreading agent improves the uniformity and efficiency of products being applied to the skin and hair with reduced tackiness.

• Targeted delivery – This spreading agent does not accelerate the decomposition of peroxides and is an excellent choice to consider for quickly delivering water-soluble active ingredients to targeted skin and hair cells with a more even distribution.

Silsoft Silk This conditioning agent has a high cationic charge density to deposit efficiently on damaged hair, imparting superior qualities to over-processed wavy/curly or coarse hair types. In leave-in and rinse-off conditioners, serums, pre-treatments for hair dyeing, shine sprays, body washes, liquid hand soaps and bar soaps, this ingredient can help improve formulations by offering:

• Sensory enhancement – With Silsoft Silk conditioning ingredient, a wavy/curly or coarse hair type that is damaged can look beautiful and feel silky. This agent can make hair easier to manage and maintain the definition of curls, without frizz.

• Formulation flexibility – Silsoft Silk conditioning agent is easy to incorporate into formulations. As a 36 percent active non-yellowing micro-emulsion of a patented quaternized silicone terpolymer, Silsoft Silk conditioning agent typically provides excellent performance in a lesser quantity than other lower solids alternatives. This allows formulators to use less of the agent without compromising results. Silsoft Silk conditioning agent can also be formulated into clear shampoos and may be considered for use in creating other clear, opaque or pearlescent products.
