NOVEL packaging designs always grab attention, whether they’re used for an existing brand or a new product. Shape, material and labeling work together to present a product the best way, but the packaging has to be within cost. With the many products and designs on the shelf, one has come up with something out of the ordinary, although not necessarily different, to be worthy of a second look.
Take for instance the sauce manufacturer Zum Dorfkrug. Sauces would normally come in familiar bottles, but this company opted to use one that resembles the classic milk bottle.
Milk-bottle style for salad dressing
The stylish bottle, blow molded in polypropylene, echoes the look of the typical milk-bottle style pack currently available in 250 and 500ml sizes. Despite its larger size, the bottle is easy to handle, and is owing to the material, is squeezable for accurate control and dispense of the dressings.
This classic 1000ml bottle was developed by RPC Promens Consumer Kutenholz for the Sylter Salatfrische, which is said to be Germany’s most popular salad dressing. As well as this classic, the new bottles will also be used for Zum Dorfkrug’s Honey & Mustard, Yogurt, French Dressing, Vinaigrette and American Salad Dressing variants.

The new bottle also meets the safety requirements of the foodservice sector, enabling it to be used in canteens and restaurants as well as in the home. Thanks to their light weight, high strength and resistance to breakage, plastics containers are the ideal choice for salad counters and the catering trade.
The bottle was launched in May and is available on the salad bars in around 150 Edeka supermarkets.
