NPEA to assist young cancer patients

HONG KONG -- Approaching its 10th anniversary, organizers of the Natural Products Expo Asia (NPEA) are making efforts not only in execution of international pavilions as well as a highlighted theme – “Healthy Aging”, but also in consideration of the physical and mental development of natural products’ users.  Expo Asia has taken root in Hong Kong for 10 years and the organizers have decided to give back to the community by donating part of its revenue to a charity organization, the Children’s Cancer Foundation.  Donation boxes will also be set up during the show period to encourage the participation of both exhibitors and visitors from Hong Kong and all over the world, said organisers New Hope Natural Media and Penton Media Asia Ltd.

The Children’s Cancer Foundation was established in Hong Kong over 22 years. Unlike other charitable organisations in the special administrative region, it is not supported by the government, neither is it sponsored by the Community Chest nor the Hong Kong Jockey Club, but supported entirely by public, private and corporate donations. The Foundation's main objectives are to enhance the quality of life of young cancer patients and their families in caring for their physical, psychological and social well-being, to help doctors increase survival rates and to assist major public hospitals in Hong Kong upgrade equipment and services in paediatric oncology.  The Foundation places great emphasis on its psychosocial services, and through its two Service Centres at Wong Tai Sin and Shek Kip Mei provides a base for important community and hospital-based patient service programmes in the areas of counseling, hospital play service, occupational therapy, palliative care, respite care and rehabilitation，long-term follow-up care, financial, social and educational support.

Healthy soup demonstration

In addition, organisers of Expo Asia are going to invite volunteers of the Children’s Cancer Foundation to have a healthy soup cooking demonstration on the public open day on 25th August in Healthy Kitchen, a signature activity of Expo Asia.  Attendees can come to source for premier natural products as well as to learn for the importance of healthy ingredients.
