NV7000 joins Mori Seiki NV series of vertical machining centres

Mori Seiki Co. Ltd has added NV7000 to its NV series of high-precision vertical machining centres. The NV7000 provides improved responsiveness and higher rigidity. It also features ball screw core cooling as standard and Z-axis feed box cooling, making it possible to maintain high- precision ma chining. The NV7000 a chi eve s roundness of 2.5 μm, which exceeds that of the conventional machine. Designed to offer a larger work envelop than the conventional model of MV-653, while keeping the smallest possible floor space, the NV7000 has longer axis strokes in a compact body, which was realised by the reduced thickness of the electrical cabinet and relocation of the coolant tank. The spindle unit for the NV7000 is available in three variations. High-torque specifications, which provide a maximum spindle speed of 6,000 min-1 and a maximum torque of 1009Nm (15% ED), are suitable for heavy-duty cutting. The use of a built-in motor spindle, instead of a gear spindle, has solved the problem regarding spindle stop time during high/low speed switching.
