Oasis Water Company thrives on its entrepreneurial spirit, writes ZAINAB MANSOOR

 

 

IN THE United Arab Emirates, demand for bottled water, especially in bulk, has gone up in recent years. It has been noted that health awareness (weight concerns and keeping well hydrated) has also pushed consumption up for this category, which is way ahead of soft drink and other carbonated or sweet beverages. By 2015, consumption of bottled water in the UAE is forecast to reach more than 768 million litres – still trailing behind consumption in other GCC markets, but no less high and growing. Competition remains fierce in this industry.

 

 

Amongst suppliers that have been providing the Emirates with high-quality water is Oasis Water Company.  Founded in 1984 as the bottled water division of the National Food Product Company (NFPC), Oasis Water became the first company in the UAE to earn a place in the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) and the National Sanitary Foundation.  Given its relentless commitment to quality and its strategic foresight, Oasis Water has garnered a strong position in the juice, milk, yoghurt and water categories.
