CINCINNATI-After investing heavily in innovative and sustainable packaging processes and technologies, OCTAL is bringing its DPET at this year’s PACK EXPO (Booth: 10123, Lakeside Lower Hall).
The move followed the startup of OCTAL’s new facility in Cincinnati which his expected to increase capacities for lamination, co-extrusion, production of very thick and very thin gauges, performance of advanced blending for the addition of performance additives and colors, and precise application of performance coatings. PACK EXPO 2014 is scheduled to take place on November 2-5 in Chicago, IL.

OCTAL’s strategic investment in capacity and innovation paved the way for continued growth of clear rigid packaging. In 2009 the company radically changed the playing field for clear rigid polymers when it moved away from traditional extrusion to replace it with a highly efficient process of pulling hot PET melt straight from the reactor and transforming it D-I-R-E-C-T-ly into PET sheet. The technology has been name DPET. In this process, five steps of processing are eliminated, and electrical energy consumption is reduced 67%. The sustainability benefits that are manifested are a function of the technology that simply cannot be reproduced by traditional extrusion or even the heavy use of post consumer waste.
