Packaging for bulk solids

TOPAS SL is the most recent model in Windmöller & Hölscher’s equipment for bagging free flowing bulk solids and represents the fourth generation form-fill-seal system in the TOPAS range. With capability to pack more than 2,600 sacks per hour, it is currently the fastest line of its kind available, according to the company.

Compared to earlier designs in the TOPAS line, the SL model offers significantly better accessibility, as an open frame structure, and large, transparent safety doors have been considered.

Additionally, the operator touch screen is as easy and intuitive to use as a smart phone. Another modern feature is the extent of electronic support systems, of which the new data messaging system is but one example. Beyond text instructions, it provides graphic representations and videos on the screen to help operators and service personnel locate and resolve problems on site.

Besides ease of use, the SL model is touted for its attractive price/performance ratio, given its strong features. Amongst them, a wide size range, universal sealing technology, diverse dosing methods, highly accurate weighing technology and extensive additional options. The intensified top and bottom seam cooling gives much shorter processing cycles, whilst at the same time maintaining consistently high strength of the seam

The compact construction of the TOPAS SL makes it suitable for both mobile and stationary bagging. Rail and wheel platforms allow efficient bagging of a variety of products or batches, as are seen on the agendas in logistics terminals. Differing bulk density, particle size and flow properties of products to be bagged are handled by customised product feeding and weighing systems as well as by the specially adapted design of the drop chute and the filling hopper.

Many optional extras have been installed on the TOPAS SL since it was launched in early June 2013. For one, the machine features special equipment that allows for almost absolutely dust-free bagging of powdery bulk goods.

Another highlight of the TOPAS SL is the completely redesigned net weigher, which excels with large service openings and a rounded enclosure, making cleaning and maintenance child’s play. Special versions of this weigher include equipment for the bagging of powdery products as well as a washable model.
