MUNICH, Germany – Paulaner Brewery Group is seeing export sales for wheat beer soaring in Asia, North America, and Europe. The product is available in 74 countries. In 2012, Paulaner Brewery posted record sales of 2.9 million hectolitres of beer. In fiscal year 2012, sales abroad went up by almost 10%, and the trend continued through the first quarter of 2013.
“The positive trend of recent years remains steady, and the foundations for another record year have been laid,” said Markus Korte, head of international sales for Paulaner.
Exports to the United States, Russia and Brazil grew significantly, whilst Italy remains the most important export market where sales in the past increased to 10,000 hL.
In 2012, sales to France, the second-largest export market, increased by 3,000 hL. The Paulaner variety “Münchener Hell” is especially popular in the country of refined tastes, along with Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier, which makes up about half of export revenue worldwide.
In China, a 10,000 hL increase on last year’s figures exceeded expectations. There, 14 Paulaner brewery pubs have already been opened as beacons of Bavarian brew culture, and additional locations are under construction.
