ENTREPRENEUR Adam Molai said that he talked India’s “cola king” Ravi Jaipuria into setting up a bottling plant in Zimbabwe, according to a report in CNBC Africa.
Mr Jaipuria, who owns Pepsi’s second-largest bottling business in India, will be investing USD30 million for the new bottling plant in Africa. The project begins in September. In addition to the cola bottling plant, a juicing plant will be set up in the next three years.
Speaking to CNBC Africa, Mr Molai said these investments will help lift Zimbabwe by opening 500 jobs and 6,000 jobs upstream for distributors. He also said that Africa can learn from India and China which have experienced similar development phases as some African countries.
