Reports say that Procter & Gamble's toothpaste brand, Crest, has been fined $963,000 (CNY 6.03 million) for false advertising. The company is said to have used photo-editing software to present the teeth-whitening effect in a recent television commercial, according to the reports.
Chinese media say this is the biggest fine of its kind on record.
