THE 9th edition of SIAL Middle East held from 10-12 December 2018, announced three health-giving products as winners of the SIAL Innovation contest.
The gold award went to Al Rawabi Dairy Company for its Nutree Boost, a beverage containing fresh cow’s milk, fruit, oats, probiotic, and vitamins.
Korea’s Munkyeong Omija Valley Co. Ltd deserved the silver award for the OMI Everyday Concentrate & Extract Series, a syrup/beverage featuring Omija, a unique fruit in that it has 5 flavours as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties said to benefit the entire body.
Appetissant Food Corporation, a subsidiary of JNRM Corporation in the Philippines, and part of the Department of Agriculture delegation to SIAL Middle East, took home the bronze award. Instayum is a healthy snack made from organic mushrooms. In an interview with The Filipino Times, JNRM Group of Companies Chief Operating Officer Nerissa C. Larrobis said it was her father’s vision to help mushroom farmers promote, repackage and market their products, 38 years ago when local mushroom processing was rather unheard of.
These three products were among 150 entries coming from around the globe, 30 of which were featured during the exhibition.
SIAL Middle East, the fastest-growing food, beverage and hospitality event in the region, as well as the fourth edition of Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition drew the participation of 1,089 exhibitors, 34 country and specialised pavilions, and 28,073 industry experts and unique visitors from more than 45 countries. The events was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, from 10-12 December 2018, and facilitated 135 trade deals valued over AED5 billion.
