In a courtesy call with Abdelrahim Mohamed Al Hammadi of the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, the Philippines Department of Agriculture (DA) secretary Proceso J. Alcala had the opportunity to discuss the readiness of local producers to export livestock and poultry to Dubai and other parts of the UAE.
According to Mr Alcala, the country is free from the avian flu virus and foot and mouth disease (FMD). He also said that the DA has been helping to upgrade the capability of more farmers, fishermen as well as food processors to meet international standards. Recently, the DA shipped its aromatic rice to the Middle East, as an indicator of its capability to produce high-quality grains.
