Capacity and R&D expansion underway at Lipogen ahead of growing demand for phospholipid solutions. The company announces new heads moving forward.

NEW applications for phospholipid solutions will drive demand for these brain health ingredients, according to the Nutrition Business Journal. China and India, along with other emerging markets will contribute significantly to the growth. While in the United States, the cognitive health market grew to US$1.2 billion in 2014, and will likely reach $1.5 by 2020.

This is encouraging Lipogen Ltd, a pioneering company with 25 years of experience in this sector, to further its research and development activities for phospholipid nutrients, and expand production lines as well.

“Increasing demand for our brain health and stress management ingredients pushed us to establish a new growth strategy for our PS and PA product line,” says David Rutenberg, CEO of Lipogen. “The phospholipids market is expanding from traditional brain function support to new brain health concepts, including: stress management, cortisol control, ADHD mitigation, sports nutrition and more.”

The Israel-based company is adding two production lines worth $2.6 million for PhosphatidylSerine (PS) and Phosphatidic Acid (PA) products. Its facility will be expanding another 10,000 sq.ft. to double production capabilities for PS and PA. Upgrades including automated controlled processing to reduce production costs through improved production traceability, and implementing new safety methods, will allow Lipogen to produce its all-natural, non-GMO, solvent-free ingredients in accordance with the highest industry standards.

The company’s new cognitive and stress management solutions are based on proprietary technology and enzymatic process.

The new R&D center will support product development and product research at Lipogen facilities. It will the responsibility of newly appointed VP and R&D manager Abraham Rutenberg.

In line with the production expansion, the company also appointed Ariel Gordon as VP Business Development manager to develop new segments and markets for Lipogen’s leading brands.

“I’m excited to welcome Abraham Rutenberg and Ariel Gordon to our team,” says Mr Rutenberg. “They will lead Lipogen to the next level via high-impact growth—not only in the dietary supplements industry, but also in the food, beverage and pharmaceuticals industries. Lipogen is committed to producing pure, high-quality products with minimal damage to the environment. We’ve initiated a long-term sustainability strategy for our complete product line.”
