Plastic technology centre to be set up in Orissa

The Planning Commission approved the establishment of India's first Advanced Plastic Processing Technology Centre (APPTC) in Orissa. With project cost of Rs 15 crore, the project will have the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) as apex body directing and controlling the project activities as per the directives of the department of chemicals and petrochemicals. About 70% of the plastics industries of Orissa are situated in and around Balasore where the centre will be located. With India moving forward to advance its position in the global market, large-scale production facilities and processing plants are expected to be constructed to cater to the global market requirements.
