The Plastics Group of America has entered into an agreement to purchase the Jules Desurmont Worsted Mill in order to add 240,000 square feet of space to its operations, the company announced. The mill is less than a mile from the company’s current manufacturing plant at 84 Fairmont St. According to TPG President Bob Lebeaux, "the expansion will enable us to fill orders even more efficiently than we’re doing now. It will provide our production personnel with more room to work and will enable us to store far more raw materials for immediate conversion into both our virgin and recycled Polifil resin products."
The company expects to start restorations before the end of the month. It also expects the restoration process to add 25 to 40 temporary jobs to the Woonsocket economy.
The thermoplastic resin-maker is planning a staged restoration of the mill complex and expects to have the first floor finished by the fourth quarter of 2012. The renovation should add at least 10 new full-time TPG manufacturing jobs.
