AHMEDABAD-Finally, it’s been decided that PlastIndia 2015 is to take place in Gujarat, at the newly built exhibition centre in Gandhinagar. The exhibition is scheduled from 5-10 February 2015. At a recent press conference announcing the final venue, Mr. Saurabh Patel, finance minister of the government of Gujarat, stressed that Gujarat was the first Indian state outside Delhi to host Plastindia. As Gujarat is announcing a new industrial policy, manufacturers, including those in the plastics industry, who are planning to undertake capacity expansion, diversification, or embark on Greenfield projects, are to be accorded support under the new policy.
According to Mr. Subhash Kadakia, President of PlastIndia Foundation: “PlastIndia is expected to see the participation of exhibitors from 40 countries.” The exhibition reflects the thriving plastics industry in India. From the period 2013 and 2020, plastics consumption in India is projected to rise 12 MMTA to 20 MMTA, with exports estimated to grow from $6 billion to $8 billion.
Plastindia 2015 is expected to register around 150,000 visitors. Around 2,000 exhibitors are anticipated to occupy 125,000 sq mts of exhibition space. The exhibition’s concurrent events include ProPlast and the 7th Plasticon Awards.
