Like a symbol of the United Arab Emirates' drive for economic diversification, Abu Dhabi's Tawazun Precision Industries (TPI) is growing rapidly and branching out. Part of the Tawazun Group, TPI was established in 2007 to produce machining components and is quickly expanding into the aerospace and oil & gas industries. With an eye firmly on the future, TPI decided to implement Dassault Systèmes' ENOVIA Version 6 as part of its strategy to build its growth on strong foundations by implementing the most efficient structure and development processes.
The ENOVIA Version 6 is a single environment ensuring real-time collaborative engineering. It provides common change management and configuration control between engineering and manufacturing to speed development, making sure both teams are working from the same "version of the truth."
"We need to demonstrate to our customers that we are able to ensure complete traceability of the components we deliver, matching the strict requirements regarding configuration management and traceability required by aerospace Industry," said Vincent Mohni, senior operations manager, TPI. "We also required a solution that would provide a foundation for all our product development processes and that would enable us to grow as we expand our activities. We chose Dassault Systèmes because we believe they can help us achieve our milestones in the years to come. The advantage with Dassault Systèmes' offering is the multitude of fully integrated solutions it provides. We have very strong options available to us."

TPI received support from Dassault Systèmes business partner Dasbat Aviation, an Abu Dhabi-based advanced technology company, which Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Division is focused on High Tech software and PLM Competency Centre, for implementation and training. "Having local support is considered a strong differentiating factor for companies in the UAE; it promotes development of the rapidly emerging UAE industry," Mohni stated.
ENOVIA provides TPI with important features such as archiving and seamless integration with Dassault Systèmes CATIA, which TPI uses for 3D modelling, design and assembly of fixtures, as well as NC programming. "This integrated end-to-end engineering to manufacturing solution greatly facilitated our work. Plus, our engineers can now collaborate on projects simultaneously," Mohni concluded.
Muaatasem Awda, CEO of TPI said, "It is within TPI's mandate to be an active player in Abu Dhabi economic diversification, within the framework of the strategic development guidelines set by UAE High Authorities with the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision." TPI's strategy to expand into the aerospace industry contributes to achieving Abu Dhabi's plans for economic diversification and the ongoing development of the UAE economy. Awda says he believes that implementing best practices such as Dassault Systèmes PLM solutions will help TPI support this goal. "Expanding our manufacturing capabilities to other sectors contributes to the diversification of our activity and consequently our economy," he says.

Developing students PLM skills is key to both TPI and the UAE economy, Awda said. "The challenge we face today is to hire local UAE engineers who graduate from school already possessing the PLM and 3D modelling skills we need, and that are wNike Sportswear
