Processing, packaging expo highlights Chinese market

WORLD-renowned Italy-based food processing and packaging exposition IPACK-IMA emphasised the important role of the Chinese market in the global industry with a press conference held recently at the Embassy of Italy in Beijing, in preparation for the 2015 edition.

The press conference was participated in by Italian Ambassador Alberto Bradanini as well as the relevant associations and operators representing this business sector in China.

IPACK-IMA reports that China is the third largest importer of processing and packaging machines and equipment after the US and Germany; as well as third largest supplier of technology and materials to the Italian market, after Germany and France.

With such important role in both sides of the market, IPACK-IMA further notes an increase of around 71% in the registration of Chinese companies in the global expo compared to the 2012 edition.

“We are very happy with this amazing result, which confirms that the technological level achieved by China can now compete with the world’s major players like Italy, Germany and the USA,” stated Guido Corbella, IPACK-IMA’s chief executive officer.

IPACK-IMA has undertaken an important path towards food safety and sustainability, as well as the study of production processes for the development of technologies capable of improving the quality of life of consumers.

The 2015 edition of IPACK-IMA, with the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” is scheduled on 19 to 23 May, and is expected to bring over 2,500 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors. Around 60% of buyers are anticipated from Europe, with the remaining from 120 other countries from around the globe. An estimated one million visitors are expected from China.
