ProPak China 2013: China packaging industry raising its technical level

FOCUSING on industrial plastic bearings, igus (Shanghai) Co, Ltd exhibited its range of bushings, bearings, linear guides and system platform at ProPak China. igus products, compared with similar products, are oil-free, self-lubricating, maintenance-free, and abrasion resistant to dust-like particles, oil and chemical media.

Mr Ahren Xia packaging industry engineer at igus China, explained, “We provide modular components that are essential for equipment design and operation. Currently, our products are mainly used in applications that require a higher level of product safety or chemical resistance in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.”

Commenting on the future direction of development packaging industry, Mr Xia said, “With the rapid development of China’s packaging machinery, automation equipment and accessories are increasingly in demand. From a technical aspect, the country’s capability will become increasingly approach the level of advanced international equipment requirements, not only in terms of higher functionality, but also from in terms of reduced energy consumption and environmental friendliness.”

Referring to the latter, he said N54 igus bushings are very representative of this trend since they are made out of 54% raw, renewable materials.

As for future development plans, Mr. Xia said there are currently no plans to build a plant in China. Investments in research and development, which enabled igus to launch 134 new products in 2013, will continue, with particular emphasis on environmentally friendly materials.
