ProPak Vietnam 2014: FPT Thailand sees strong demand in meat processing sector

Source:Ringier Release Date:2014-03-12 259
Food & Beverage
The company is a distributor of food processing and packaging equipment used in the meat processing industry in Southeast Asia. In Viet Nam, demand for red meat and chicken is significantly growing as seafood struggles as a result of political issues

Apart from the manufacturers and buyers at ProPak Vietnam, there were also a number of product distributors offering a variety of brands from all over the world. Distributors provide a vital service for smaller companies that don’t have the budget to get their products to a broader global market. One of the bigger distributors at the exhibition was FPT (Food Process Technology) Thailand. They distribute a range of food processing and packaging equipment used predominantly in the meat processing industry such as, cutters/bowl choppers, vacuum fillers, smoke houses, frozen block cutters, slicers, and various packaging solution options.

Managing director Axel Arras said, “We do a lot more than just sell machines. We consult on the company’s needs and assist them with designing the solutions around those needs. We then get the machine made to the customer’s specifications, have our engineers trained in servicing the particular machine, install it and provide operational training and ongoing servicing, we offer the full package. Our machines are manufactured in Europe, predominantly Germany, and although our head office is based in Thailand we have offices throughout Southeast Asia such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. We concentrate our business mainly within the Southeast Asian market.” When asked about the company’s plans for the future here in Viet Nam, Mr Arras said he sees the country is maturing and ready for purchasing first class machinery as the need for reliability, safety and higher yields increase. He added that the company sees a significant growth happening in the area of red meat and chicken meat; seafood is struggling a bit for various political reasons, but in general there’s a big increase in the protein sectors with meat and meat by-products.
