ProPak Vietnam 2014: Strong confidence in local market

Source:Ringier Release Date:2014-03-12 233
Food & Beverage
Viet Nam is a food-producing country that not only requires the latest equipment and solutions that provide better hygiene, higher quality output, and safety, but also the knowledge to produce food and beverage products that meet the industry’s changing standards.

The 9th Annual ProPak Vietnam Exhibition was staged in Ho Chih Minh city from 4-6 March, and the feedback received from participants of the three-day event, was very positive. There was a general feeling of confidence amongst exhibition delegates about Viet Nam’s continuing growth.

On his visit to the show, Anthony Evans represented Food Pacific Manufacturing Journal and caught up with the ProPak organisers, All World Exhibitions. In this exclusive interview, the company’s Chief Representative Mr. BT Tee talked about the activities in Viet Nam and how ProPak finished up for 2014.

“ProPak Viet Nam first exhibited in Hanoi in 2005 and then started in Ho Chih Minh city  a couple of years later, Mr Tee said. “Our entry into Viet Nam in those early days came about with developing a strong partnership with the Viet Namese Association of Food Science and Technology (VAFoST), who are still one of our major partners. In fact, VAFoST organised one of our conference days held in conjunction with ProPak,” he said.

“At All World we see ourselves very much as part of the Viet Namese food industry, you could almost call us the industry’s marketing arm. Although we are a commercial business, we would be mad not see ourselves as industry partners. We are in a strong position to support the growth of the Viet Namese Food Industry, and strong partnerships with all industry participants, government and education are needed to realise a strong vision of the future for Viet Nam.”

Food-producing country

With regards to the products on offer at ProPak Vietnam, Mr Tee pointed out that Viet Nam is a food-producing country that exports a lot of their produce, so right through the value chain from the raw material to the end user there is a need for food processing equipment and packaging, and the demand has grown considerably over the past 10 years. There has also been a huge increase in machines that can provide greater hygiene, product quality and safety controls, particularly with companies exporting food products overseas. The domestic market and regulators here in Viet Nam are also starting to demand a higher standard in food production, so events such as ProPak are vital in supporting these changes in food production.

When asked about ProPak Vietnam’s conference programme, Mr Tee explained that the company’s efforts here in Viet Nam are not only about promoting products, but also about sharing knowledge through our conferences and education programmes. Helping the food industries here to grow and develop is a big part of our company’s corporate vision for Viet Nam.
