Qatar plans US$548M non-oil industry venture

Qatar's private sector is planning to establish a company with a capital of QAR 2 billion (USD 548 million) to construct industrial plants and related projects in the oil-rich emirate.

Qatar's chamber of commerce and industry has already obtained government approval for the new venture, which will be announced with two months, Mohammed Al Kawari, chamber's deputy chairman, told the Arabic language daily Sharq.

He said the company would first be confined to Qatari businessmen before it is listed on the bourse and is open to the public.

"The company will focus on the construction of non-oil industrial projects and it will be announced within two months. We have already identified many project opportunities through this venture," he said.Air Force 1 Low Upstep BR
