Medical Devices Industry in Taiwan In a highly competitive market where current products are passé and future ones with better performance and capability in pursuit of technological innovation are on high demand, Taiwan's medical devices industry fast emerges as one of the global high-tech industries in the Asia Pacific region. Taiwan has a highly organised medical industry network backed with intensive R&D, excellent production, quality assurance and successful marketing. Product certification and global product recognition are important concerns for Taiwan-based OEM companies. Taiwan is considered as an international player in the manufacturing and production of diagnostic devices, disease treatment devices, general medical assistance equipment and patient aid products. With the trend shifting from treatment to therapy to disease prevention and wellness, Taiwan's medical devices market is well positioned to capture global opportunities by increasing its supply of medical devices for home use and for the elderly, such as digital thermometers, blood pressure and glucose kits and pulse oximeters. Medical Fair Asia 2010 Medical Products Asia was witness to the yet again very successful Medical Fair Asia at Suntec Singapore last September 15 to 17. This event is the 8th International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical and Rehabilitation Equipment and Supplies, one of Asia's largest medical and healthcare shows. From more than thirty exhibitors from Taiwan, we interviewed the managers/representatives from seven companies with various medical product specialties.
