The result is a range of cutting tools specifically engineered to excel in applications where superior performance and quality are demanded. Dormer’s rivet drills have been designed to promote precise, one-shot drilling of countersunk holes, enabling significant cost-per-hole benefits through increased tool life and productivity. The range is available with various coatings and in a range of substrate materials, including PCD to accommodate a range of airframe structures and materials.

Another example is Dormer’s recently expanded range of carbide cutters for aluminium, which provides a total milling solution, from roughing to finishing. The S140, S143 and S145 end mills are the optimum choice for high-metal removal operations, featuring reinforced end teeth to equip them for tough machining conditions. The S142 provides exceptional performance in super-finishing operations up to 4xD axial depth, while the S149 with reduced shank diameter is ideal for deep pocket milling and profiling. Finally, the S540 (ball nose) and S144 (corner radius) cutters are particularly suited to the high-speed machining of complex aluminium surfaces.
